5 Changes

The following is a list of five of the most effective, bang-for-your-buck changes you can make in your life at home when it comes to eating sustainably as a Potomac family.  These points come from my research as well as the current habits of real Potomac students and faculty members!

1) Sign up for weekly milk and vegetable delivery from a local farm

2) Grow your own tomatoes (and other veggies too!).  One $2 tomato plant can provide over 10 pounds of fruit in one season

3) Buy grocery items in bulk

4) Shop your local farmers' market.  You may have to pay a bit more here, but the social sustainability, freshness, and nutritiousness of the food will make the extra cost worthwhile

5) Avoid fruits and vegetables that are contaminated with pesticides
